Disney just released something exciting, and it is named Dreamlight Valley.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is a magical story-rich, life-like adventure game. Think of The Sims, but they are set inside the Disney/Pixar Universe. There’s even been hints that there are some Pokémon Go elements, which I am sure will thrill many Pokémon Go fans.
This game is gorgeous, stunning, fun, and super simple which is exactly what an adult with a life like myself absolutely needs.
But, before I start gushing over a game that you know absolutely nothing about let me lay down facts about this game!
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Story
You’ll be set inside a dream-world inhabited by colorful characters. Yet, due to a recent event they call “The Forgetting,” the village has been overrun with thorny vines and its people have lost their memories, so your job will be to help them regain their memories as you unravel secrets within this magical land.

My First Impression When Playing
I honestly have no idea on how I found out about this game, but I am glad I did.
I immediately jumped on YouTube to view a few trailers to gain some additional insight. After viewing about two more videos, your girl was absolutely sold.
The game imagery is spectacular! I just want to look at it all the time. This could be the creative in me wanting to just soak it all in because something this amazing is rare. Plus, I am sure it will help me get out of my own creative rut. Well… hopefully.
I was given the Standard Founder’s Pack via Steam which is priced at $29.99 USD.
The game promptly takes you to the Avatar Designer Tool where you get to customize your avatar. This part is good. I wasn’t overwhelmed with options, however it wouldn’t hurt to have more options. For example, Bitmoji has the perfect amount of customization, except it just needs a few more outfits. If Gameloft can do that for Dreamlight that would be terrific.
After customizing my avatar I begin my journey and encounter Merlin. The conversation is rather lengthy as Merlin explains “The Forgetting”, and exactly what we’re supposed to be doing while embarking on our adventures.
I jest you not, I love magic, but the magic in this game is underwhelming. I wasn’t expecting that. I also was expecting a bit more from the characters. Merlin just makes noises and doesn’t talk which okay, I get it.
Yet, even the the blurbs you read are sometimes repetitive and in my mind I was yelling
“Okay, Merlin! I get it! I GOT IT!“
I did stop playing after I had to repeat myself a bit more than I wanted to, but it was a fun trial run. The best way to describe this game is Kingdom Hearts without any action and you’re just vibin’ with Disney/Pixar characters doing magic, decorating your home, and making delicious meals with Remy from Ratatouille.
Keep in mind this game is still in development, but I am already enamored. Dreamlight Valley is absolutely splendid.
