Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League video game being developed by Rocksteady has been delayed due to negative audience response. The game is now being released in Spring 2024.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Has Officially Been Delayed
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was initially set to be released on May 26, 2023. However, after showcasing the game in Sony’s State of Play on February 23, 2023, fans were not impressed. Especially, after finding out that the game is an online/live service game in addition to other factors that upset the audience.
What Is Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a third-person action-adventure shooter video game. You are able to play all four members: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark.
The game is supposed to be the fifth installment in the Batman: Arkham series, taking place five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight.
The story of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is that the Justice League has been brainwashed by Brainiac and it is up to the Suicide Squad to stop them.
Rocksteady is the development team, but Warner Bros. Games will be the publisher. There is a prequel comic set to be released on May 30, 2023, titled Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum. A statement has not been issued on whether or not the comic will still be released at that time or will be delayed with the game.
Online Service Games & Why We Hate Them
The hatred for online/live service games stems from knowing that the development team created a game meant to pump money continuously back to them at all times. They’ll come out with new silly skins, weapons, missions, and whatever else with a fee attached to the item.
No, you don’t just get to buy the video game and play it. You buy the video game and then you are bombarded with purchase options to upgrade your game.
The worst part is that in this particular game even when playing solo/single-player mode you are required to be connected to the internet.
Rocksteady Can Do Better
The same team that gave us the dearly loved Batman: Arkham series is behind the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which is why most cannot understand why this game looks not only generic but extremely underwhelming.
It is a bunch of jumping around and shooting and that’s basically it. I thought maybe I was missing something, but the comments section of Sony’s Game Trailer echoes the same sentiments.
The best comment about this game is that it looks like Saints Row 4 with Justice League skins.
Also, why does it look outdated? Maybe, because it is dated. Geoff Johns made an announcement in July 2010 that they had started developing a game based on the Suicide Squad, and it is now 2023, which is 13 years later… Well, 14 years if it comes on in 2024.
For a game that has been in development for a minimum of 10 years by a large team, the end product is dismal. What happened?
However, kudos to them for at least choosing Metropolis for the location instead of Gotham.
Are You Looking Forward to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League?
I thought it was a cool idea and I thought the game trailers looked nice, but nothing spectacular so it wasn’t on my purchase list. Yet, is it on yours? Are you still looking forward to it?
If you are not, what changes would have to be made in order for you to purchase the game? I honestly, do not believe they will be able to create a crowd-pleaser within the extended time period.
