RawBeautyKristi, a youtube makeup guru has decided to “end” her beauty career on Youtube, or has she?
Kristi uploaded the video titled “The End Of Raw “Beauty” Kristi…?” on December 21, 2022. To me this video wasn’t needed, but I understand why she made the video.
The Announcement Of An Ending, But Also The Beginning
You are most likely reading this post because you are a fan of RawBeautyKristi, who is one of the most known Beauty/Makeup Gurus on Youtube.
So, if you have been following RawBeautyKristi for any amount of time, my question to you is… Did her video really surprise you?
I have been following beauty gurus since Michelle Phan stepped on the scene. I have my absolute favorites that I will follow forever. RawBeautyKristi, although she isn’t someone I would actively seek out on other social media platforms unless she made a video announcement about moving to another platform, she is someone that I have subscribed to for years and love to see a new upload from her.
Being a viewer, subscriber, or fan of RawBeautyKristi I never held her to the title of Youtube Makeup Guru. Yes, she definitely does the looks, the tutorials, and the expected product reviews that Beauty Youtubers are known for, Kristi is different.
Applying products and explaining what the items were along with the technique she was doing weren’t the major focus. The focus was Kristi herself as most of the content I consumed she was playing with product, but talking about her day, her life, her struggles, and dreams.
There’s definitely a calming and sincere feeling when viewing her uploads, even if it was to vent about something awful such as her situation with the construction of her home or most notably known for displaying via a microscope the hairs embedded in Jaclyn Hill’s lipsticks.
She’s taken us on brand trips which I had no idea they were so lavish. She spoke her dream of creating a palette with Colourpop into existence and we were there for it. She also spoke about how much she wanted a child and when she made the pregnancy announcement I do not believe there wasn’t a person on earth that was not excited for her.
We also know that with that pregnancy announcement that her life’s focus would change. I mean I cannot be the only one that knew that this “ending” would cause for changes not only in her personal life, but for RawBeautyKristi the content creator.
The “Beauty” In Raw “Beauty” Kristi Isn’t Just For Skin Deep Products
Kristi mentions in the video how she doesn’t wear makeup much anymore. Okay, a lot of us don’t wear makeup much anymore. Most of us due to what happened in the year of 2020, but a lot of us just simply do not want to spend time doing our makeup when we could be doing other things.
I personally wear two to three products when going to work. My days off I don’t even think about it because I have to do housewife things and take care of business which makes cosmetics not a priority of mine. I can’t even imagine having children amongst other responsibilities and thinking, “Wow! I should really put some liquid lipstick on!”
The world has shifted. We are in the clean girl era where it all about skincare and health. This could because cosmetic companies haven’t released anything exciting in months or possibly years.
As for RawBeautyKristi — Yes, the word “beauty” is in your brand. However, you have evolved and your so has your audience. There’s beauty in changing. There’s beauty even in the Speed Cleaning My House 20X Speed. I love the backyard! There’s beauty in what you create. To me the beauty is your honesty with everything you experience. It isn’t the makeup products.
This is not just a “Oh, Kristi you’re so great!” post! I do understand her fears and concerns. The fear of losing your viewers due to changing your content are very valid. A change can be career-ending or it can blossom into something you could never imagine.
The Nonexistent Creator Bible
This isn’t just in the nonexistent creator bible, but also a part of being a brand or running a business.
I know you have had experiences where you love a product then the company changes the formula. You are upset and now you have to go through finding a new product to replace that one. This change not only causes ill feelings, but also can tank the company if others share the same feeling.
For large companies taking risks will not hurt them as much if they acknowledge and rectify issues quickly, but for small business owners, influencers, and creators it is a different beast.
They could end up in the countless “What Happened To Insert The Creator’s Name?” videos that you see all over Youtube. No one wants that.
BUT, as someone that was a freelancer, you do have to pivot. Sometimes, you fall out of love with what you’re currently doing or what you are doing is no longer working.
I know for myself and other entrepreneurs we had to pivot a lot. I ended up just quitting the freelancer game for good. I went back to work and now just blog because that is what I wanted to do. I am a much happier person after making that decision.
I hope that Kristi will feel the same once she continues with her decision.
The New Raw Beauty Kristi
Once again I do believe we all knew that her beauty journey would end. We just didn’t have a date or time as to when the new creative journey with Kristi would begin end.
I personally believe that her new creative path is natural for what she has shared with us in her beauty journey. I’m here for it with or without makeup.
