Years ago there was no such thing as an online content creator, you just made goofy little things online.
Those years have definitely passed and so many people are content creators without even knowing it and then there are people out there wondering how to start being a content creator.
What Is An Online Content Creator?
Basically, if you create something that is available publicly online then you are an online content creator. Most people know that those who actively post on social media platforms such as Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, and more are obviously content creators.
Some of us have a hard time understanding that there are other types of online content creators that aren’t so obvious such as artists, fanfiction writers, travel bloggers, and even people like me that run personal blog sites like the one you are reading right now.
That’s why being an online content creator is such a viable life path for some since you have the freedom to create whatever you want while having a fostering community.
One of the coolest types of creators I’ve come across are the creators that review art products and color on video. Imagine, getting paid for coloring giant Disney coloring books.
How To Start Being A Content Creator
Choose Your Platform
Choose your poison and stick with it. I have social media accounts, but my main content platform is the Kittenly blog.
I chose to blog because it allows me to post whatever and whenever I want without having to feed the algorithm.
Create A Small Batch Of Content Before Going Public
Depending on your platform you should have a small batch of content along with some promotional pieces ready to go.
For example, when I started blogging I didn’t index it with Google until I had all of my sections set up with at least one piece of content.
Then once each section had a piece of content, I would just pop over into Canva and created some pins for Pinterest along with a couple of pieces for Instagram. I have other social media platforms where I will post my content but only if I feel like it.
Promote Your Content
Let your friends, family, and anyone and everyone know that you’re making content. If you’re shy like me you don’t have to. If you are shy you can go a different route.
I like to promote my blog content on less demanding platforms such as Pinterest, but I still have an Instagram for old times’ sake.
The Best Advice I Can Personally Give Any Online Content Creator
Stay consistent. I know you want to rise to internet fame super fast, but don’t commit yourself to something that isn’t interesting and is too much.
If you don’t like Instagram, don’t choose Instagram as your platform. If you are already busy don’t commit to posting daily. It is okay to post weekly, monthly, or whatever you choose to fit your schedule.
If you commit to once a week but have time to make another post then go ahead and consider it a bonus post.
Don’t Get Discouraged
Being an online content creator can be lonely especially if you aren’t aiming to be an online influencer. You’ll be crafting content on your lonesome and the only person that will see it is you.
You have to be comfortable with continuing on and enjoying the process of what you’re doing otherwise you’re going to give up before you even get started.
